Age: 28 Birthday: April 8th Affiliation: The Esper Collective Likes: Her motorbike, her tattoo ghost familiars, helping out at her adopted parent's restaurant, taking care of young espers. Dislikes: Waking up early, working overtime Talents: Hand-to-hand combat, street racing, cooking, and auto mechanic skills Image Color: Peony pink and black Lucinda Huyen Tran is a woman who lives in a world where magickind and psychics have an uneasy coexistence. She is affiliated with the Esper Collective, a worldwide community of psychics who work together in order to conceal the world's mysteries from normal humans and to protect themselves and each other from people who want to use them for their own ends. No one can govern the espers except themselves. Growing up in an obscure village in Vietnam, Lucinda did not have the easiest childhood. At a young age, she discovered her psychic abilities as a medium that could see, communicate, and be possessed by ghosts. Her normal, non-psychic parents, instead of protecting her, saw her power as a way to make money and lots of it. Starting with their neighbors, they made Lucinda make contact with ghosts of old relatives and loved ones and allow herself to be possessed so the living could talk to the dead through her. Soon, Lucinda's mediumship drew bigger crowds from surrounding towns and more importantly to her parents, a lot more money and clout they could spend on themselves. At first, she willingly went along with her parent's wishes. Their lives were being materially improved and it made them happy and in turn, they poured affection on her. Lucinda, like any child, wanted their love and approval. But the more she used her powers, the more frightening and violent spirits began to draw closer to her and she had difficulty controlling her possessions making her a danger to people around her. Lucinda's mother and father became frightened of their daughter and kept her confined and locked up in their home (and it worked to their benefit; they could charge a premium to hopeful visitors). She describes this part of her life as being "constantly in the dark, never being truly awake." In her loneliness, Lucinda found herself between the world of the living and the dead and she fought a desperate mental battle against ghosts who wanted to possess her completely. Her despair caught the attention of three benevolent spirits who bonded with the young girl, becoming her protectors. When she was 15, Lucinda was finally rescued from her confinement by a young esper girl, Ai Thao Kha, who was supposedly, one of, if not the most powerful esper in the world. Inspired by her strength and kindness, Lucinda would move out of Vietnam, go on to connect with other psychics in her community, and be adopted by an elder couple who helped her get settled in for everyday life. More importantly, she pledged herself as an agent who can be used to apprehend rebellious espers, witches, and warlocks or to help clean up any messes left behind by the supernatural. She is a particularly useful agent due to the ghost familiars who inhabit her body as tattoos. These familiars are called Flora, Feather, and Fang. Each tattoo is a different spirit whose loyalty is to her, each granting her a different ability. Sweet-scented Flora soothes, entices, and helps people forget. Feather makes her light as air and gives her flight. Fang is a dragon who has one hell of a bite when he jumps out of her body. Lucinda has a serene demeanor and a mysterious aloofness about her person due to her constant contact with the dead and being inhabited by mysterious spirits. Her troubled childhood has affected her to her core, though you wouldn't know it since she lives a rather peaceful life, other than the work she does for the Esper Collective. When not in action Lucinda is friendly enough although unsettling to other people even other espers. Ghosts still talk to her and she oscillates from being a completely normal adult to a haunted woman who sees things. She's also a cool older sister who will let you ride her motorcycle. ➢ Plurk: ➤ Discord: Maiscribbles#6780 |
